Today's annual walk that never was!

The best laid plans of men are often thwarted by events, but today's Five Church Walk was cancelled by no less than the worldwide coronavirus pandemic, resulting in most world governments imposing a lockdown. We knew last year that the 2020 May Bank Holiday Monday would be on a Friday to coincide with the Allies Victory over Europe 75th anniversary celebrations which meant our fund raiser would clash with it. At least we knew before we had held any planning meetings.

The famed Kings Wood displays of bluebells are usually at their best when the Bank Holiday is at the very start of May. But this year they seemed to be blooming much earlier than usual & by 8th May they would be well past their prime. As this might have disappointed walkers today, these photos of them from the North Downs Way were taken on 12th April.
